Cleanliness and fire safety are essential within all kitchens and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 requires all grease extract systems in commercial kitchens to have a regular cleaning program to minimize the fire risk.
In the event of personnel injury or death from a fire associated with a poorly maintained system, charges of corporate liability or manslaughter could be brought against the responsible person. In the light of recent publicised kitchen extract fires such as South Mimms Services and Heathrow Airport, Insurance Companies are also becoming increasingly more demanding regarding adequate cleaning regimes, in order to reduce the risks of building fires. Grease filters cannot eliminate all the grease deposits caused by commercial cooking from condensing within the ductwork and on the extract fan. The HVCA TR/19 requires regular specialist cleaning of Extract Systems based on usage. Sani-Duct will minimise the fire risk and enhance the cleanliness of kitchens by removing the grease deposits from the extract systems with a regular cleaning program to HVCA TR19 standards. Regular extract cleaning will also benefit the mechanical efficiency of the system by increasing the air flow and prolonging the life of extract fan.
Where necessary additional access panels are installed or replaced to perform effective cleaning works and all grease extract cleans are documented and verified using the Wet Film Thickness Test to satisfy legislation and insurance requirements.
